San Jose CA Sewage Cleanup

Sewage spills can happen for a number of reasons. It could be an issue with the city’s main sewer line causing a back-up in yours, it could be from a sewer pipe below your floor bursting and spilling out, or a number of other reasons. But when it does happen, all of the sudden you’re faced with a toxic situation that can uglier and more dangerous by the hour. That’s why we’re standing by with technicians ready to perform certified sewage clean-up services.

Some things are made for DIYers…sewage cleaning is not one of them!

So you’re handy with tools and have the grittiness to try and tackle even the dirtiest project?  While that willingness to get your hands dirty is admirable, we can not advice more against trying to cleanup sewage on your own.

There’s a big reason why:

It’s toxic.  And we’re not just talking about the smell.  Backed up sewage can be an extremely dangerous situation.  Sewage can contain viruses and bacterias such as E-coli, hepatitis-A, giardia, salmonella, and tetanus, as well as nasty parasites and fungi.  There could be diseases in your sewage that could be deadly if contracted…it’s not something you want to try to clean up by putting on some rubber gloves and wearing some rubber boots.

Given the deadly nature of sewage cleaning, it’s no surprise it’s considered an environmental hazard until properly cleaned up.  In fact, it’s recommended that you not even be in the home if there is a sewer back-up as some harmful pathogens can be contracted through the air.

We made a short video to try and educate potential customers (and more specifically, potential DIYers) about the dangers of operating in a property damaged by raw sewage, as well as the challenges inherent in a safe, effective cleanup effort. Please take a minute to watch it:

Here’s how we cleanup sewage and make sure your home is deemed safe once again:

Inspection.  First we perform a visual inspection of your sewage cleanup project.  Our tech will examine the back-up and determine the amount of damage as well as devise a mitigation plan to get your property clean, dry, and disinfected.   At this point we can describe each phase of the process and answer all of the questions you’re bound to have.

Estimate.  Once we’ve completed the damage inspection process and have laid out a plan for restoring your sewage damaged area, we can provide you with a no obligation estimate.  Our costs are driven by the software designed by the insurance companies so you know the price we offer is fair.  The quote is in writing so there’s no surprises after we begin.

Contaminated Item Removal.  Next we safely remove all items that have been contaminated.  We will try and salvage as much of your possessions as possible and make sure they are professionally cleaned and disinfected.  For those possessions that can not be saved, we’ll safely dispose of them being careful to catalogue each item so that you can reimbursed for your loss during the claims process.

Sewage Extraction.  Once all items have been safely removed and/or disposed of, we can begin the process of extracting sewage and removing it from your property.  We can either “flush” the sewage down through your existing sewer line (assuming it’s function properly once again) or we can store it and transport it to a facility where it can be safely disposed of.

Drying & Disinfecting.  After removing all sewage from the premises, we can begin the process of drying out the structure.  Should drywall or portions of the floor need to be removed, we’ll do that as well (and replace once fully dry).  We will also apply a powerful disinfectant spray to kill off any remaining harmful agents.

We always provide you with a free sewage damage cleanup estimate!

Free_EstimatesOne of the most important elements of any mitigation job is properly assessing the loss and then recommending the most cost-effective path forward. To do that, we always offer potential customers a free onsite assessment and estimate. Not only will our lead technician fully diagnose your loss and recommend the proper mitigation process, but he will walk you through the estimate to explain what needs to be done and at what cost. But to make sure we are always using fair and reasonable prices, our estimators use the industry’s leading 3rd party estimating software. It’s called Xactimate, and it works by inputing the prices insurers will pay for whatever service we need to perform and tallying the cost based on those inputs. In fact, if you’ll be filing a claim, you can rest assured your adjuster will be using the same system to quote the loss!
