If you’ve never dealt with a water loss, here’s what you can expect during the process:

On-Site Water Damage Assessment & Free Estimate

First, we’ll provide a complete assessment of the damage that has occurred to your property and your possessions.  Once complete, we’ll provide a scope of work detailing the water damage cleanup process we believe to be the best for your situation and provide you with a no obligation estimate for the full amount of any work performed.

Pack-out Services

If you choose to allow us to get to work, we’ll then begin packing out items that have been affected by water damage as well as removing those items that could be damaged should the water continue to damage other areas of your property.  These items can typically be restored off-site and will be returned assuming they’re safe and fully restored.

Water Removal

If there is water still on your property, it will be removed using powerful vacuums and other water extraction tools.  The water will be pumped out and dumped away from your property such that none seeps back into the home or basement.  Once all of the standing water is removed, we can begin the next phase of the process.

Anti-Microbial Spraying

Once we’ve removed standing water, we can then apply a microbial spray that will help prevent mold from taking hold as well as prevent future growth.  It’s an important step in the process that helps protect you from any future problems and safety concerns.  The spray is non-toxic but extremely effective!

Surface & Sub-Surface Drying

We will then bring in industrial strength air movers and drying equipment and position them so that they most effectively dry the damaged area.  The key here is a full assessment of the best position for the equipment such that every area gets the proper amount of drying time.  We’ll check daily to determine the moisture levels of all affected areas and will remove the equipment once everything is dry.

We realize your head might be spinning and your nerves frayed.  While you need to move quickly to get the water damage cleanup process started, you also want to make sure you’re receiving good service and you’re comfortable.  The best way to do that is to educate yourself about the process and familiarize yourself with the water restoration contractor you’ve hired.

In this video, we explain the steps commonly taken in the water damage restoration process:

Don’t pay too much for water damage repair services!

Unfortunately there are contractors out there preying on your desperation.  It gets ugly when they quote you a price and say insurance will take care of it and then you go to file the claim and the insurance says it’s too much.  At RestorationEze, that won’t happen because we use the same software to calculate the costs as your adjuster uses.

Here’s how it works:

Understanding what is covered when it comes to water damage…

Many people are confused at to what they are actually covered for, and others are afraid to use their insurance policy in the case of emergency water damage. Let’s talk through some common misconceptions and try to help you better understand when your policy takes effect.

Water damage vs. flood damage

Within our industry, we typically see these as separate events, and the difference is where the moisture came from. With water damage, the origination point of the water is within the home. With flood damage, we assume the water started outside your property and made its way in.

(Sudden) water damage is covered under homeowners insurance in most cases. Flooding is not, and would require a separate flood insurance policy in order to be covered.

Sudden water loss vs. gradual water loss

Not all water damage is covered. If the water loss was sudden, then it’s usually covered. If it was gradual (for instance, a slow drip from a pipe that cause water damage to your cabinets), your insurer usually won’t cover the cleanup costs because they believe it was neglect on your part that resulted in the damage. Some of the most common causes of water damage are:

pipe-burst-water-damage– pipe burst

– toilet crack/overflow

– sink clogged/overflow

– dishwashing machine malfunction

– hot water heater system leak

– washing machine hose disconnecting

– refrigerator line water hose disconnecting

Whether you are covered are not, you need to deal with the situation as quickly as possible to prevent further damage and stop mold. The longer you delay, the more involved and the more costly the cleanup becomes!
