Twitter Alerts allows you to receive trusted tweets during emergencies

Posted by Matt Buchanan

TwitterToday Twitter announced the launch of a new tool called Twitter alerts.  If you’re on Twitter, you’re well aware that it has become a go-to resource for news on events happening in real time.  But you’re also aware that there can be a massive amount of misinformation, especially in times of crisis when the masses can reach a level best described as pandemonium.

So to help people get pertinent, timely information during an emergency from trusted sources, Twitter alerts has launched.  As events like the recent storms in Boulder make clear, this type of service can be invaluable for people in harm’s way or for people trying to stay current with events or find ways to help.

So kudos to Twitter for rolling out yet another tool that we think can help people in times of need!
