Colorado, which translated from spanish means ‘red colored’ resides in the southern portion of the Rocky Mountain range as well as the western most edge of the US Great Plains.  It is the 22nd highest popluated state and boasts the 8th largest land mass of the US states.

Colorado got its name after early Spanish explorer’s discovered the Colorado River.  It’s nickname, The Centennial State, derives from its date of statehood, which occurred in 1876 when the US was celebrating 100 years of independence.

Colorado shares a border with Wyoming (in the north), and eastern border with both Kansas & Nebraska, Oklahoma and New Mexico towards the south, as well as Arizona & Utah to the west.
