If you’re dealing with flood damage, a fast response is crucial!

We can’t stress enough how important responding quickly to a flood event is to the cleaning and restoration process.  You need a company that is available and can respond immediately to your flooding damage.  It’s why we offer 24/7 response 365 days a year…because when you’re dealing with a flood, you simply can’t wait around for help!

Don’t get fleeced by un-reputable flood cleanup companies!

While it is unfortunate, there are companies out there that will inflate their prices knowing that you need immediate help.  Don’t let this happen to you!  We offer affordable pricing and our rates are extremely competitive.  In fact, we price our flooding cleanup services using the same software used by insurance adjusters, so you know the price you’re being quoted is fair!

When it comes to flooding damage, it’s the things that you can’t see that can hurt you!

What do we mean by that?  Flood damage is dangerous for a couple of reasons.  First, it can cause structural damage to your home’s walls or floors/ceilings.  If left untreated, parts of your home could collapse and cause injury or death to anyone in the path of the destruction.  The biggest problem is finding the danger areas…here’s what we mean by that:

The images above are of a bathroom wall that has sustained flood damage.  The issue is that you can’t tell that just by looking at it, as seen on the left side.  However, using infrared imaging equipment, you can see that there is significant damage to the walls.  If left unattended to, this wall can become compromised structurally.

Don’t become a victim of black mold!

It can also become a haven for mold, which is the second big concern when cleaning & repairing flood damage.  We arrive at jobs quite often in which the homeowner was not able to respond to the flooding for several days, at which point mold had already begun to grow.  That’s one of the reasons a rapid response is so crucial…mold can begin growing almost immediately upon finding an ideal environment.  We utilize mold prevention techniques throughout the flood cleanup process so that you don’t end up with a serious health risk to deal with!

How do we determine flood cleanup costs?

We actually don’t determine our own prices but instead use the rates insurers reimburse for restoration services.  It means you always get a fair price that won’t be rejected should you be filing a claim with your insurer…here’s how the Xactimate system works:

Some other helpful resources…

If you haven’t already, check out as it has a wealth of information about flooding prevention techniques, what to do during and after a flood event, as well as various resources in dealing with the aftermath. The American Red Cross also has a handy flood checklist.  Because of our location next to the sea, it’s foolish not be prepared for a sea swell or other natural disaster. Flooding can occur for any number of reasons, as this page spells out. No matter the reason, please educate yourself so that you can keep your family and loved ones safe.

And lastly, if you’re wondering what type of risk your property is in, the state of Maryland has created a wonderful tool to allow you to research your future flood risk.

What does the flood cleanup process take?

Some basement water damage is more severe than other properties, but the principles of water damage restoration are the same for all losses and are outlined in the operating manual known as the S500, published annually by the IICRC. In the video below, we explain what the process looks like, some of the different equipment systems we use, and give you a sense for what to expect.

Does flooding damage fall under insurance?

flood-insurance-basement-water-protectionWithin our industry, there is a crucial distinction between flooding damage and water damage. Why? One is usually covered by a homeowners policy while the other isn’t. If your home was damaged by water that came from outside, that is what we call ‘flood damage’. If the damage was caused by water that came from inside your home, we consider that to be ‘water damage’. Water damage is typically covered under a standard homeowners insurance policy. Flood damage would mean you would need to carry an additional flood insurance policy in order to be covered. Fortunately, many homes and businesses in the Baltimore area carry this extra policy.

Always hire an IICRC-certified flood cleanup company!

Certified flood restoration servicesWell, technically a company can’t be certified but rather individuals are certified by the IICRC. Why is this so important? Absent any sort of qualifying governmental body or state licensing, you need some assurances that whoever you hire knows what they are doing. The best sign that is the case is to ask whether or not the technicians that will be sent to the job are fully certified by the IICRC. If not, it should be a pretty big red flag that the company isn’t very serious about making sure the quality of their services is up to basic standards. We believe it means they aren’t willing to invest in their most vital employees and aren’t willing to do the things they need to do as a company to make sure the service their customers receive will ensure a positive outcome.

At RestorationEze, we only send out technicians that carry current certifications from the IICRC!
